There are no plans for a rumoured big-screen version of Friends, film studio Warner Bros has told the BBC.

Since the success of the Sex and the City movie, there has been constant speculation that the US sitcom's six stars had agreed to their own film.

One UK press report even suggested that the first scenes would be shot within the next 18 months.

However, Warner Bros' director of publicity in the UK, Jayne Trotman, said there was "no truth in the story".

Police say a South Florida woman stole a couple's cat to get them to return her dog. Linda Urioste's black Labrador was recently picked up by animal control officers and later adopted by Jutta Hollar and her husband.

Hollar learned a couple of weeks later that Urioste had been to the shelter looking for the dog. Hollar says she had considered returning the animal until she met Urioste, who yelled and threatened to sue.

A few days later, the couple realized their cat was missing. Police say Urioste left a phone message with the Hollars saying that she had their cat and was willing to trade it for the dog.

Police charged Urioste on Saturday with theft and extortion. She was released from jail on a $6,000 bond.

• Alexa Ray Joel, 22, testified that Cook treated her well before he married her mother. But she said he was constantly on her case afterward, chastising her "if I chewed too loud" and criticizing her piano playing.

Transformers star Megan Fox has reportedly called off her engagement to actor fiance Brian Austin Green.

Sources claim the pretty brunette, 22, sent business associates correspondence last week alerting them to the sad news. An insider says, "Megan still cares about Brian, but she now realises she's too young to marry him."

There are also rumors she and Shia Lebouf have been getting 'handsy' on the set of Transformers 2. Time will tell.

Empireonline reports that Josh Holloway - who's been known to melt female hearts at 1000 paces - has joined the cast of Stay Cool, the new comedy from the Polish Brothers, Mark (who writes, acts and produces) and Michael (who writes, produces and directs).

However, Holloway is not playing the lead in the movie, which is a comedy about a successful author who is forced to confront his old high school crush - and the jock who is her ex-boyfriend - when he returns to his hometown to deliver an address to graduating seniors.

Instead, Mark Polish will play the author, with Winona Ryder scheduled to play the crush. Holloway will play the jock - which is pretty good casting, and a smart move on his part to take supporting roles in movies, rather than leaping right into a lead that might crash and burn.

Howard Stern nearly lost his closest cohorts in Afghanistan this week.

Stern's Sirius radio show producer Gary Dell'Abate, show regular Artie Lange and comedians Nick DiPaolo, Jim Florentine and Dave Attell had just finished a comedy show for troops in Kandahar when the base came under attack.

"Everything was going fine until the end," a friend of the comics, who heard from them by cell phone, tells us. "They were all done with their sets, and they were headed in a car convoy to a meet-and-greet elsewhere, but they only made it about 20 yards.

"The military base they were on came under mortar fire, and the convoy was turned around."

Troops led the comics into a secure bunker, where they all waited for a very unfunny 35 minutes as the shelling continued.

Eventually it stopped, and the comedians, all uninjured, went on to continue the USO/Armed Forces Entertainment tour at other undisclosed locations in the Persian Gulf. Tony Burton, Dell'Abate's rep, confirmed the incident but couldn't comment.

The highly anticipated film production of TV series Friends has finally been given the go-ahead, MailOnline has learned.

Cast members Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer will reprise their roles for a big-screen adaptation 'within the next 18 months', according to insiders.

The actors have been inspired by the recent success of Sex And The City, which recently hit cinemas worldwide. 'The box office success of Sex And The City has really got their wheels spinning about how a Friends film could be just as big, if done right.

'Timing and the script are really important, but now that Courteney and Jen both have production companies, they can potentially get very involved in those decisions.'

'Smile' singer Lily Allen is poised to record a duet with actress Lindsay Lohan.

Lily's second album is almost completed, but the star wants to add another song, entitled 'Wherever You Go,' to the mix and plans to lay down the tune with Li-Lo.

Brit singer Lily was spotted dining with the Mean Girls actress and mutual friend Samantha Ronson last month in Los Angeles and it would seem the pair really hit it off.

And Lindsay, who is reported to be engaged to DJ Samantha, seems to have have made her affection for our Lily perfectly clear.

Lily said: "I came back to the hotel about seven and went straight to dinner with my number one fan. We went to this place called Il Sole, the food was amazing. I love truffles big time and they didn't disappoint. Samantha brought along a rather famous friend - and about 50 million paparazzi."

A man who put his life up for auction on eBay found it wasn't worth quite as much as he thought when he settled for around A$100,000 less than his target price.

Ian Usher, 44, held the seven-day auction of all his belongings, including his three-bedroom home in the west Australian city of Perth and a trial for his job at a rug store, after the break-up of his five-year marriage.

Bids had reached as high as A$2.2 million, only for Usher to discover there had been a glitch on eBay's system which allowed the participation of non-registered bidders who had put in bogus offers.

In the end, the winning bidder agreed to pay A$399,300 ($380,286) for all of Usher's worldly goods, which also include his friends, a motorcycle and a jetski. According to the eBay website, the mystery buyer, whose user name is "mslmcc," is in Australia and has a 100 percent feedback score.

Usher, who gave regular updates on the auction on his Web site www.alife4sale.com, now plans to travel in search of a new life.
